Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has continued to promote what has been described as propaganda following reports in Serbian media claiming that a heavily armed group of Kosovo Police officers crossed the border into Serbia without authorization in the northern part of the country. However, this claim was categorically denied by the Kosovo Police through an official statement on Facebook.
Vučić, speaking to RTS, suggested that no reaction from KFOR was expected, but stated that he anticipated a response from the United States. He alleged that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti had ordered this move deliberately, expecting it would lead to a confrontation that could involve NATO against Serbia.
“Americans know that Kurti ordered this intentionally. He was expecting it to lead to NATO’s involvement in a conflict with Serbia. Next time, we will react in full accordance with service rules,” Vučić said.
In response, the Kosovo Police dismissed these allegations as disinformation. They accused Vučić and Serbian authorities of spreading false reports aimed at creating insecurity among the local population in northern Kosovo and tarnishing the reputation of the Kosovo Police.
“The claims referenced in the statement from the Serbian Ministry of Defense are false and baseless,” the Kosovo Police wrote in their statement. “As a reliable and transparent institution, the Kosovo Police will continue to provide official information to the media and the public whenever it is required and necessary.”
This development comes amid ongoing tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, particularly in the northern region where ethnic Serbs constitute the majority. The situation remains sensitive, with both sides closely monitoring actions on the ground and responding to any developments that could escalate into further confrontation.
