Albulena Haxhiu, Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, reacted to the European Committee of the Regions’ decision to remove the footnote previously used next to the country’s name, which appeared as “Kosovo*.”

She described this development as a very positive and long-awaited step for the state of Kosovo. According to Haxhiu, for a long time the Republic of Kosovo has been represented unjustly in international organizations with this unofficial designation.

The Assembly Speaker emphasized that the footnote originated from a past dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, considering it an unfair compromise for the state of Kosovo.

According to Haxhiu, the decision to remove this footnote represents an important step toward strengthening and affirming Kosovo’s status on the international stage.

She added that this development is a positive signal for a fairer and more equal treatment of Kosovo in international organizations and in international relations.
