The 28th anniversary of the Gollubovc Massacre was commemorated, marking one of the most serious events of 1998 in the Municipality of Malisheva, where 28 Albanian civilians were killed on September 26 of that year. Three martyrs from the Municipality of Malisheva who fell during the war—Ilaz Javori, Rasim Maloku and Selman Deligashi—were also commemorated on the same occasion.
At the commemorative ceremony, alongside family members and numerous citizens, tributes and commemorations were also paid by Vesel Krasniqi, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Malisheva, together with municipal department directors and representatives of the Association of Martyrs’ Families in Malisheva.
Speaking about the Gollubovc Massacre, Deputy Mayor Krasniqi said the event remains one of the darkest wounds of the war.
“Today is a day that reminds us of the pain of one of the most serious events during the war, when 28 citizens of our municipality were brutally killed. These events are the clearest evidence that Serbs committed crimes, not the liberators, while courts continue to convict the liberators and the perpetrators of these crimes live freely. As a municipality, we will not remain silent in the face of these injustices, and we demand that those responsible for this crime be brought to justice. To the families, I say: remain strong, because thanks to this blood and this sacrifice, we live freely today and are able to commemorate those who fell,” Krasniqi said.
Speaking about the three martyrs who fell on this date, he emphasized that their sacrifice would be remembered for generations.
“As long as the nation lives, the martyrs will be remembered, because it was their blood and sacrifice for the nation that allows us to enjoy freedom today,” Krasniqi said.
On behalf of the Martyrs’ Families in Malisheva, Kastriot Berisha praised the contribution of the nation’s martyrs and all those who contributed to the liberation war.
“Thanks to this sacrifice, thanks to this blood shed throughout the centuries, the Albanian people live freely and today we are building our country,” Berisha said.
During the commemorations, family members thanked the institutions and everyone present for paying tribute, emphasizing that such commemorations are of particular importance to families who lost their children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers during the war.
