Kosovo’s Defense Minister, Ejup Maqedonci, announced that more than €1 billion will be invested over the next four years to modernize the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), expand defense infrastructure, and develop the local defense industry.
Speaking at the BEDEX 2026 Defense Industry Fair in Brussels, Maqedonci emphasized the importance of the event for advancing international cooperation and strengthening Kosovo’s defensive capabilities.
During the fair, he held meetings with General Frederik Vansina and representatives from defense companies to explore opportunities for supplying modern military systems and equipment, as well as co-production and investment in Kosovo’s domestic defense industry.
Minister Maqedonci highlighted:
“The Ministry of Defense is committed to accelerating the modernization of its defense capabilities through strategic investments. Over the next four years, planned investments exceeding €1 billion will focus on advancing combat capabilities, constructing new defense infrastructure, and developing the domestic defense industry. In the new European security environment, Kosovo aims not only to strengthen its national defense but also to contribute to regional and Euro-Atlantic security by deepening cooperation with international partners and allies.”
He also noted that fairs like BEDEX 2026 provide key platforms for long-term partnerships, access to advanced technologies, and the enhancement of Kosovo’s military capacities, helping to ensure a safer future for both the country and the wider region.
