Albanian Foreign Minister Urges North Macedonia to Implement Use of Albanian in State Institutions

Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha held a productive phone call with his North Macedonian counterpart, Timco Mucunski, focusing on the full implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement and specifically the law mandating the use of the Albanian language in state institutions.

Hoxha stressed that the complete application of the Ohrid Agreement is crucial for interethnic coexistence and institutional stability. He emphasized that solutions ensuring the use of Albanian in public institutions must respect constitutional principles and reflect the country’s multiethnic character.

The two ministers also reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Albania and North Macedonia, highlighting the shared commitment to NATO and regional cooperation. They agreed on the strategic importance of the European integration of both countries and the wider Western Balkans as a key investment in regional stability and security.

Additionally, Hoxha and Mucunski discussed advancing collaboration on the implementation of Corridor VIII, a major infrastructure project enhancing regional connectivity and development.
