During a debate in the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on the report regarding Kosovo, a representative of the European Commission confirmed that all previously blocked financial resources have now been released.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Jiri Plecity from the Directorate for Enlargement stated that the EU has lifted all financial restrictions against Kosovo.

“I can confirm that we began the gradual removal of these measures in May of last year, and in December 2025, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the removal of further measures. I can now confirm that the Commission has released all assistance funds for Kosovo,” Plecity said.

Kosovo’s rapporteur in the Parliament, Ruiho Terras, criticized the measures during the debate, stating that they had caused significant consequences for citizens, civil society, and the overall functioning of Kosovar society.

This marks a key step in restoring full financial support to Kosovo and reflects the EU’s continued commitment to the country’s stability and development.
