Former Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has called on the European Union to finally bring Kosovo’s membership application “out of the drawer” following the EU Commission’s confirmation of the removal of sanctions against Kosovo.
Bushati stated that today’s confirmation by the European Commission in the European Parliament Committee, lifting measures and releasing all financial aid to Kosovo, should open a new phase of productive engagement.
“This is the time to take Kosovo’s EU membership application off the shelf,” Bushati wrote, emphasizing that the EU should now move forward decisively with the country’s candidacy process.
