The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced a significant escalation in pressure on Iran, confirming the launch of a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports.

Speaking from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump reiterated Washington’s firm stance against Iran acquiring nuclear weapons.

“Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” Trump said, adding that Tehran continues to pursue such capabilities.

Naval Blockade Announced

The U.S. military confirmed that the blockade would take effect later in the day, following the collapse of direct talks between the two countries. The measure includes restricting access to Iranian ports for vessels of all nationalities, including those operating in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

Despite the move, U.S. authorities clarified that navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz will remain open for ships not linked to Iran, in an effort to avoid major disruptions to global energy supplies.

Trump Downplays Diplomatic Efforts

When asked about the possibility of renewed negotiations, Trump signaled little interest in returning to talks.

“I don’t care if they come back to negotiations or not. If they don’t, I’m fine,” he stated, while also claiming that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened.

Rising Tensions

The latest developments mark a sharp escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about stability in a region critical to global oil and gas transit.
