Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, describing his remarks against Pope Leo as “unacceptable.”
Meloni said the Pope, as the head of the Catholic Church, has the right to call for peace and condemn war, stressing that such verbal attacks are not appropriate in international discourse.
Her reaction comes after Trump referred to the Pope as “terrible,” escalating tensions following the Vatican’s criticism of U.S. threats against Iran.
