António Guterres has called on the United States and Iran to resume negotiations, stressing that there is no military solution to the ongoing conflict.
The United Nations chief said it is “clear” that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward and emphasized that the ceasefire “must be fully respected,” urging all violations to stop immediately.
“I call for the resumption of talks to reach an agreement,” Guterres stated.
He also reminded all countries to respect freedom of navigation, including in the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with international law.
