Serbia is once again being accused of attempting to influence Serbian voters in Kosovo ahead of the June 7 elections by urging them to support Srpska Lista, the political party openly backed by Belgrade.
The head of Serbia’s so-called Office for Kosovo, Petar Petković, today called on displaced Kosovo Serbs to participate in the upcoming elections in Kosovo and vote for Srpska Lista, which is widely regarded as Belgrade’s political arm in Kosovo, RKS News reports.
According to Serbian media, Petković was speaking in Kragujevac, where he addressed displaced Serbs from Kosovo and encouraged them to take part in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
“You all know that another important election is approaching. I understand people are tired because we have had many electoral processes and there is a major political crisis and instability in Pristina, but it depends on us to endure, to fight, and to remain united, cohesive, and determined as we have been until now,” he said.
Calling for support for Srpska Lista, Petković told displaced Serbs that the party’s victory in these elections would allegedly serve as a “guarantee for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo.”
“This gathering is also an opportunity to invite all of you to go to the elections on June 7 and vote for Srpska Lista, because the victory of Srpska Lista in these elections is a guarantee of the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and the certainty that we will continue to build and invest in our communities,” he stated.
Kosovo’s early parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place on June 7.
