Riho Terras, the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Kosovo, has reacted to Kosovo’s snap parliamentary elections, saying that the low voter turnout reflects citizens’ disappointment with the country’s political situation.
According to Terras, the low level of participation demonstrates public frustration caused by political instability and prolonged institutional deadlock.
He stressed that cooperation among political parties is essential to restore citizens’ trust and advance the reform process.
“The low turnout in Kosovo’s snap elections shows that people are frustrated with the political chaos. Cross-party cooperation is needed to get the country back on track and move it closer to the European Union,” he wrote.
Terras’ remarks come after the June 7 elections recorded the lowest voter turnout in Kosovo’s recent electoral cycles, highlighting growing public fatigue with repeated political crises and institutional blockages.
