Workers at the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), the country’s public broadcaster, are set to stage a protest tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The demonstration will commence at 12:00 PM outside the main Kosovo Television building, with staff demanding the immediate distribution of their remaining unpaid wages.
The mass mobilization follows a joint announcement by the Independent Union of RTK, the RTK Workers’ Union, and the Radio Kosovo Union Association. The labor groups expressed deep dissatisfaction with the management’s failure to allocate full salary payments, revealing that the broadcaster’s governing bodies have yet to offer any concrete solutions to the financial impasse.
Financial Hardship Amid Management Failures
Union leaders emphasized that the ongoing payment delays have severely strained the financial well-being of hundreds of public media employees and their families, leaving many struggling to meet basic monthly and daily obligations.
The organizers firmly stated that the frontline staff should not bear the brunt of the institution’s structural and financial mismanagement.
“Workers must not be held responsible for the financial and organizational issues plaguing the institution,” the union statement read. “The regular payment of wages is a fundamental labor right.”
A Unified Call to Action
The upcoming protest represents a unified front across RTK’s radio and television branches. By taking to the streets, the unions aim to force immediate accountability from management while urging every employee to join the demonstration.
The labor leadership concluded that the protest is a vital step toward defending professional dignity, securing economic stability, and protecting basic worker rights at the public broadcaster.
