The Basic Court of Prishtina has scheduled the initial hearing for 21 individuals accused of committing war crimes against the civilian population in Kosovo.
According to the proposal submitted by the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo, the trial will conduct proceedings in absentia (in the absence of the accused), given that the defendants have remained unreachable by law enforcement authorities up to the time the indictment was filed.
“The defendants and the general public are hereby notified that the hearing will be held at the Basic Court in Prishtina, Palace of Justice Hajvali, Building D, on July 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, presided over by the Head of the Trial Panel, Violeta Namani,” the court statement read.

Prishtina, June 10, 2026 – The Basic Court in Prishtina – Special Department, informs the general public that it has scheduled the initial review hearing for the criminal case PS.nr.88/2025. The subject of this review is the indictment filed by the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo (PPS.nr.68/2021, dated December 30, 2025) against the following defendants:

The individuals face charges for the criminal offense of War Crimes against the Civilian Population, pursuant to Article 142 in conjunction with Article 22 of the Criminal Law of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), currently criminalized under Articles 144, 145, 146, and 147 in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK).
Following the motion by the Special Prosecution Office, the trial will proceed in the absence of the defendants, as they remain at large. Consequently, through this public notice, the aforementioned defendants are urged to come forward and surrender to the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Kosovo. Furthermore, the court appeals to any members of the public who possess relevant information regarding the whereabouts of the accused to contact the Kosovo Police or other competent authorities.
The hearing will take place at the Basic Court in Prishtina, Palace of Justice Hajvali, Building D, on July 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, led by the Head of the Trial Panel, Violeta Namani.
