Chief Prosecutor Gashi Meets U.S. Treasury Officials to Discuss Combating Money Laundering

The Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, Zejnullah Gashi, hosted a high-level meeting today, June 10, 2026, with representatives from the United States Department of the Treasury. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation to combat economic crimes and money laundering.

The visiting U.S. delegation included senior officials Mr. Joseph W. Burke and Mr. Norman Richard Smith.

Strengthening Institutional Capacities

According to an official statement from the Prosecutorial System, Chief Prosecutor Gashi expressed his gratitude for the visit and highly valued the American willingness to deepen institutional ties. He emphasized that joint efforts are vital for building professional capacities and increasing law enforcement efficiency in Kosovo.

The meeting focused heavily on specific areas of financial intelligence and prosecution:

Concluding the meeting, Gashi reiterated that the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina remains fully dedicated to working closely with both domestic and international law enforcement agencies to eliminate financial corruption and strengthen the rule of law across the country.
