The Neurosurgery Clinic at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK) has successfully performed, for the first time, neurosurgical procedures using neuroendoscopy, a modern and minimally invasive technique used in brain surgery.

According to a statement from UCCK, the procedures were carried out on July 6 and 7, in cooperation with German neurosurgeon Dr. Gousias Konstantinos, who, together with the Neurosurgery Clinic team, led the implementation of these advanced interventions.

During this visit, two complex surgical procedures were successfully performed: the removal of a pituitary gland tumor through a neuroendoscopic approach and the removal of a tumor from the third ventricle of the brain, also using neuroendoscopic technology.

Both operations also involved the use of a neuronavigation system, an advanced device that enables precise anatomical guidance during surgery. According to UCCK, this technology increases procedural safety and allows operations to be performed with high precision, in line with contemporary neurosurgical standards.

According to the Kosovo University Hospital and Clinical Service (KUHCS), both patients are in good health and are continuing their treatment and recovery according to the medical team’s plan.

Beyond the clinical aspect, the visit of the German specialist also had significant professional and educational value for the staff of the Neurosurgery Clinic. During the procedures, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical nurses, and operating room personnel participated in practical training, gaining direct knowledge and experience in applying modern neuroendoscopic techniques and using neuronavigation technology.
