Palm Beach County, Florida, voted Thursday to rename its airport in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump, joining a growing list of institutions, buildings, government programs, naval vessels, and initiatives that now bear the Republican leader’s name.

Palm Beach International Airport will now be called “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” a decision viewed as a gesture of support for the president, who has made Florida his residence and where his well-known Mar-a-Lago resort is located.

“I don’t believe there is anyone else in the entire state of Florida who is more connected to Palm Beach than Donald Trump,” his son Eric Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

Since Donald Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025, his name has been attached to a planned class of naval vessels, a visa program for wealthy foreigners, a government platform for prescription drugs, and federal savings accounts for children.

Trump’s name has also been added to the building of the American Peace Institute, while courts rejected an effort to rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Eric Trump and his family traveled on a private aircraft that became the first plane to land at the newly renamed Palm Beach airport in the early hours of the morning.

“There was no chance in the world that I was going to allow a UPS plane to be the first one to land,” he said during an interview on “Fox & Friends.”

According to airport sources, the renaming process cost approximately $5.5 million.

Other airports in the United States also carry the names of former politicians. One example is the Little Rock airport in Arkansas, which was renamed in honor of Bill and Hillary Clinton. Airports in Las Vegas and San Jose, California, also bear the names of former U.S. senators.
