Zejnullah Gashi Officially Appointed Kosovo’s Chief State Prosecutor for Seven-Year Term

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) has welcomed the appointment of Zejnullah Gashi as the country’s new Chief State Prosecutor, following his official decree by Acting President Albulena Haxhiu.

According to the KPK, Gashi will lead the State Prosecution Office for a seven-year mandate, in accordance with Kosovo’s constitutional and legal framework.

The Council said the appointment follows its formal nomination of Gashi after completing the legally prescribed evaluation and voting process.

“The appointment of the Chief State Prosecutor comes following the proposal made by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, which, in accordance with constitutional and legal provisions, nominated Mr. Zejnullah Gashi for this position after completing the evaluation and voting procedure,” the KPK stated.

In its announcement, the Council said that Gashi will be responsible for strengthening the rule of law, improving the efficiency and professionalism of the prosecutorial system, and ensuring the independent, impartial, and accountable exercise of prosecutorial functions in line with the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.

The KPK also extended its congratulations to Gashi, expressing confidence that, through institutional cooperation and professional commitment, he will contribute to strengthening the integrity, transparency, and public trust in Kosovo’s prosecutorial system.
