Jeton Zulfaj, the Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, hosted the Hungarian Ambassador to Kosovo, László István Dux, for high-level bilateral talks focusing on Pristina’s European path.
The meeting comes at a critical time for regional diplomacy, with Kosovo pushing for concrete institutional advancement inside the European structures.
Seeking Coordinated Backing from Budapest
According to an official press release from the Chief Negotiator’s office, Zulfaj extended his gratitude to Ambassador Dux for Hungary’s historical and continuous diplomatic support toward Kosovo’s eventual accession into the European bloc.
Zulfaj emphasized that maintaining a highly coordinated engagement with key EU partner states is vital to dismantling ongoing integration gridlocks.
The Argument for Progress: Reforms Must Equal Advancement
During the session, the Kosovar delegation reinforced that the country’s extensive democratic and economic strides deserve formal recognition from Brussels. Kosovo’s strategic position was outlined clearly in the state communication:
- Shared European Foundations: Kosovo shares, upholds, and protects the foundational democratic values of the European Union.
- Democratic and Economic Gains: Pristina’s continuous economic development and structural domestic reforms must be reflected equitably in the integration process.
- Foreign Policy Alignment: The office stressed that Kosovo’s 100% alignment with the EU’s common foreign and security policies should be translated directly into executive decision-making.
“Our democratic advancement, economic development, and full alignment with EU foreign policy must translate into concrete institutional decisions, starting with granting candidate status and the official opening of accession negotiations.”
