The Ministry of Energy of Iran has issued an urgent nationwide appeal to its population, demanding an immediate and drastic reduction in electricity consumption. The state directive comes as Iran’s national power grid faces catastrophic strain following targeted U.S. military strikes against the country’s energy infrastructure.

Grid Under Siege Amid Extreme Summer Heat

According to an official ministry statement, the country’s electrical grid is under unprecedented pressure, leaving major territories highly vulnerable to total blackouts. The government is asking residents to turn off high-power appliances, specifically air conditioning units, during peak operational hours.

“We urgently call on citizens to limit electricity usage to help ensure a stable power supply, particularly in our southern provinces. These regions are currently battling a severe crisis, facing a combination of extreme summer heatwaves and the aftermath of direct strikes on regional power plants.”

The Al-Tanf Base Mystery: Conflicting Military Reports

Amid the escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran, confusion has erupted over a major regional flashpoint on the Syrian border:

  • The Iranian Claim: Tehran officially announced that its forces launched a retaliatory bombardment targeting the Al-Tanf special operations command center in southeastern Syria. Iranian state media framed the attack as a strike against the “enemy’s command center,” specifically blaming the United States—even though U.S. troops reportedly withdrew from that specific outpost earlier this year in February.
  • The Syrian Denial: In a surprising twist, a Syrian military source speaking directly to AFP on Friday completely contradicted Tehran’s victory narrative, flatly denying that any such military strike took place.

“We completely deny any Iranian bombardment or rocket strikes directed toward the Al-Tanf region.”

The conflicting reports underscore the highly volatile and chaotic security situation currently unfolding across the Middle East as regional infrastructure remains heavily targeted.
