The Basic Court in Pristina held the hearing for the closing arguments in the war crimes case against Milorad Gjoković, reported Ekonomia Online.
According to the indictment filed by the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, Gjoković is accused of committing war crimes against the civilian population during 1998–1999, while allegedly serving as a member of Serbian police and military forces.
The indictment alleges that in the village of Ozdrim in the Municipality of Peja, as well as in surrounding villages of the Peja region, Gjoković participated in actions involving killings, raids, beatings, mistreatment, arrests, torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, enslavement, forced expulsions, and deportation of dozens of Albanian civilians.
He is also accused of looting, burning, and destroying the homes of Albanian civilians during the Kosovo war.
The prosecution alleges that Serbian military forces, together with paramilitary units and special military units, entered Ozdrim from several directions and opened fire on civilians. According to the indictment, six Albanian civilians were killed, while others who were initially wounded and transported for medical treatment were later allegedly executed and buried in Lutogllavë.
The indictment further states that several other Albanian civilians were killed during the offensive, while their remains have never been found and they continue to be listed as missing persons.
The court is now expected to continue the legal proceedings following the presentation of the final arguments.
