Kosovo authorities have arrested three people in Prishtina on suspicion of operating a document forgery scheme that allegedly supplied fake identification papers to individuals wanted under international arrest warrants.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday by the Basic Prosecution Office in Prishtina in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) as part of an investigation into alleged document forgery.
According to prosecutors, searches were conducted at three separate locations, leading to the arrests of suspects identified by the initials G.Th., E.G., and Sh.Sh.
The prosecution said investigators employed special investigative measures during the probe, gathering material evidence that included communications exchanged through social media, contacts between the suspects, and forged official documents from several countries.
Authorities allege that the suspects produced counterfeit identification documents, including identity cards, driver’s licenses, and passports from various European states.
The forged documents were allegedly supplied to individuals wanted under international arrest warrants, enabling them to conceal their identities and potentially engage in further criminal activities.
Prosecutors said the criminal network is suspected of charging up to €15,000 for a single set of forged documents.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests.
