At least six people were killed and dozens injured after a Russian missile strike targeted a military training ground near Kyiv, where a defense exhibition showcasing weapons and military equipment was taking place, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Serhiy Beskrestnov, a military adviser to the Ukrainian president known by the callsign “Flesh,” told the Kyiv Independent that a ballistic missile struck a training range near the Zhytomyr Highway, outside Kyiv, where representatives of Ukraine’s defense industry had gathered. He said the attack resulted in multiple casualties among those attending the event.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy initially reported that at least six people had been killed and dozens more wounded, without specifying the exact location or nature of the incident.
Later, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko updated the casualty toll, stating that at least 10 people had been killed and more than 100 others injured.
The Defense Industry Council of Ukraine confirmed that the missile strike targeted a site in the Kyiv region where representatives of the country’s domestic defense industry were present.
In its statement, the council expressed condolences to the families of the victims and urged the public not to publish photographs, videos, location details, victims’ identities, or any other information that could compromise the safety of individuals, military operations, or the ongoing investigation.
