Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed details from his closed-door meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, saying discussions focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and revitalizing diplomatic efforts.
According to Zelensky, one of the main topics was the licensing of interceptor missile production for Patriot air defense systems, a move he described as strategically important for countering Russian aerial attacks.
“We also discussed diplomacy. It is important that the diplomatic process receives new momentum. Our teams will coordinate the details of further communication,” Zelensky said after the meeting.
The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude for continued U.S. support, stating that he was “grateful to the United States for its unwavering support.”
Zelensky’s visit to Washington comes at a time when relations between the United States and Ukraine appear to have strengthened significantly. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Ukrainian leader to seek increased military assistance as Kyiv continues its war against Russia.
