The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, said that excavations are being carried out in Zubin Potok following suspicions of a mass grave containing remains of people missing from the Kosovo war.
In a statement published on Facebook, Hamza said that even 27 years after the war, families of thousands of people who disappeared by force during the conflict continue to wait for answers about the fate of their loved ones.
“Even after 27 years, we continue to live with the pain of waiting and the hope of learning the truth about thousands of citizens who were forcibly disappeared during the war,” Hamza wrote.
He criticized Serbia for what he described as a failure to take responsibility for crimes committed during the war and called for the truth about missing persons to be fully uncovered.
Hamza also referred to the case of more than 100 families from Mitrovica who are still waiting for answers regarding their relatives, including 23 intellectuals from Mitrovica who disappeared in 1999.
“One day this pain will come to an end, but the truth must be heard and justice must be served,” Hamza said.
According to Hamza, Kosovo will continue efforts to clarify the fate of every missing person and seek justice for their families.
