The Special Prosecution of Kosovo has filed an indictment against 20 defendants for war crimes against the civilian population in the Municipality of Gjakova, allegedly committed during the 1998–1999 war.
According to information obtained by Gazeta Express, Milan Radoičić is among those accused of participating in the killing of 107 civilians during a large-scale military and police operation.
The Special Prosecution stated that the defendants — including M.K., R.C., M.D., P.R., S.K., L.O., Zh.S., S.S., L.D., Z.R., D.G., Ç.B., V.B., R.B., R.R., L.R., M.Sh., M.R., S.G., and T.A. — are charged with the criminal offense of “War Crimes against the Civilian Population.”
According to the indictment, during 1998–1999, M.K., in the role of head of the Secretariat of Internal Affairs (SUP) in Gjakova, R.Ç., as commander of the Special Police Units (PJP), and M.D., as commander of the 52nd Rocket Artillery Brigade, together with other members of these units, are accused of taking part in the killing of 107 civilians during a coordinated military-police operation.
The indictment alleges that during the operation, the perpetrators first separated women and children from men. The women were allegedly robbed of gold jewelry, money, and other valuables, while the men were executed—some inside their homes and courtyards, and others at a location known as “Taliq Bridge.” The indictment also states that houses were burned during the attack.
