Vetëvendosje MP Ilir Kërçeli said that they are still waiting for another meeting between Albin Kurti and the leaders of the opposition parties.

According to Kërçeli, before proceeding with the election of the Assembly’s deputy speakers, the Speaker and the government, an agreement should also be reached on the position of president.

“We are waiting for a meeting with the political parties to reach a comprehensive agreement on all institutional positions in the Republic of Kosovo. So far, I personally have not been informed whether another attempt has been made to arrange a meeting with the party leaders. As for the constitutional deadline, we have not even been MPs for six full days since taking our oaths, and before that we could not meet or call a session,” Kërçeli said.

He added that he had no information on whether a meeting was expected to take place soon.

“As for the approximately 48-hour period, we believe the opposition is saying that the Speaker and the Assembly leadership should be elected first. But after that come the votes on the government and the president. Vetëvendosje considers that we must first have a comprehensive agreement covering all positions before voting on the Speaker and deputy speakers.”
