A hearing is expected to take place today at the Basic Court in Prishtina in the case against Dushan Maksimović and other defendants over barricades erected in northern Kosovo in December 2022.
The case is being heard by Judge Rrahman Beqiri, while Special Prosecutor Admir Shala is representing the indictment. The previous hearing, scheduled for September 17, was postponed due to the absence of defendant Nenad Orlović and defense lawyers Miloš Nikolić and Bogdan Llazić. The court fined the two lawyers €500 each for their unexcused absence.
According to the indictment, Maksimović, Miloš Radosavljević and Nemanja Jolović allegedly participated in setting up barricades in Zvečan, blocking roads with gravel-filled trucks, excavators and other vehicles. The prosecution alleges that improvised fighting positions were also established near the barricades, with the actions intended to prevent Kosovo institutions and police from exercising state authority and carrying out their official duties in the north.
Six people were initially charged in the case. Following plea agreements, Radosavljević was sentenced to nine months in prison on August 31, while Dushan Drobaci received a one-year sentence. Proceedings against them were separated from the main case.
Maksimović is also facing a separate conviction. On April 24, 2026, the Basic Court in Prishtina sentenced him at first instance to 30 years in prison over the September 24, 2023 attack in Banjska, in which Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
