Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed Ukraine’s willingness to resume negotiations with the United States as soon as possible, following a tense meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump last Friday.
Zelensky stated that Kyiv is prepared to sign a mineral agreement with Washington “at any time and in any format.” His remarks come a day after Trump ordered the suspension of U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
“Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any suitable format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid guarantees, and I truly hope it will be effective,” Zelensky said.
A Strategic Partnership in Uncertain Times
The Ukrainian leader also expressed gratitude for past U.S. support, emphasizing that American assistance has been crucial in defending Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“We deeply appreciate what America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. We remember the turning point when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for that,” he added.
The potential mineral agreement could mark a significant development in U.S.-Ukraine relations, especially as Ukraine seeks stronger security guarantees amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
