On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Dukagjin Epic, specifically the battle on March 24, 1998, between the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the occupying Serbian forces, the Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, paid tribute at the “Martyrs of the Nation” Memorial Complex in Gllogjan.

The Chairman emphasized that the enemy forces surrounded Gllogjan, aiming to break this stronghold of inspiring resistance. However, the bravery, determination, and willingness to fight until the end sent a clear message to the occupying Serbian forces that no siege could extinguish the struggle for freedom.

“That day, the call for freedom resounded powerfully, becoming an inspiration for all Albanians and across Kosovo, providing the elevated example of resistance with arms in hand, of sacrifice in the name of our shared liberating aspiration,” said Chairman Konjufca.

In honoring this glorious battle and the sublime sacrifice of the martyrs, Chairman Konjufca stated that their heroic deeds would remain unforgettable, inspiring current generations and those to come.

“The martyrs and all the fallen are the ones who paved the way for the establishment of our Republic, and we must never forget how much we had to struggle and give to achieve our freedom. Glory to Hima Haradinaj, Gazmend and Agron Mehmetaj, who marked the greatness of the Dukagjin Epic with their blood, as well as to all the martyrs who gave their lives for freedom,” said Chairman Konjufca.
