The Kosovo Police have found and seized weapons, ammunition, and military uniforms in two separate incidents in northern Mitrovica.
The police also announced that one suspected individual was arrested during the operation.
According to the Kosovo Police, the operation was conducted in the village of Dren in the municipality of Leposavić and in the village of Shipovë in the municipality of Zubin Potok, following information that weapons and other illegal items might be located there.
In the village of Dren, police found:
- one M-56 repeating rifle, Yugoslav-made, Crvena Zastava;
- one CZ-99 pistol, 9 mm caliber, Yugoslav-made, Crvena Zastava;
- one CZ Model 70 pistol, 7.65 mm caliber, Yugoslav-made, Crvena Zastava;
- ninety-nine (99) rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition;
- thirty (30) rounds of 9 mm ammunition;
- ten (10) rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition.
“In connection with this case, an individual identified by the initials S.V., born in 1971, was arrested as a suspect. The suspect was taken to the Police Station in Leposavić, where he was interviewed in the presence of his defense attorney. By order of the state prosecutor, the suspect was placed in custody for 48 hours,” the Kosovo Police said.
Meanwhile, in the village of Shipovë, Zubin Potok, police officers found and seized:
- one AK-47 automatic rifle, Yugoslav-made, together with six (6) magazines and 157 rounds of the corresponding caliber;
- one M-48 hunting rifle, Yugoslav-made, together with 186 rounds of long-gun ammunition;
- one bayonet;
- military uniforms bearing Serbian insignia;
- two (2) military bags;
- one military food container.
By order of the state prosecutor, investigations have been initiated in both cases for the criminal offense of “Unauthorized possession, control, or ownership of weapons.”
