Air traffic controllers in Greece, called by the public sector workers’ federation ADEDY, have announced a 24-hour strike on April 9th due to demands for the reinstatement of vacation bonuses, wage increases, and measures to address the housing crisis in Greece.
The union has highlighted that Greece’s air traffic system is in a critical condition due to a shortage of personnel and issues with equipment, which have led to frequent delays in recent years and are expected to worsen this year.
On the same day, flights in Italy will also be affected, as EasyJet cabin crew members, affiliated with Italian unions FILT, CGIL, and UIL, are scheduled to strike from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The strike will impact EasyJet flights, causing potential delays and cancellations.
The airline has assured passengers that they will do everything possible to minimize the impact of the strike and will contact those with affected flights to offer reorganization of their travel plans.
Passengers are advised to regularly check the status of their flights and be prepared for delays and cancellations.
