Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has stated that Sweden and Finland have become legitimate targets for nuclear attacks by Russia following their accession to NATO.

He emphasized that by joining an “enemy alliance,” these countries have abandoned their neutrality and have become military targets for Russia.

Medvedev declared that as NATO members, these countries are automatically in the crosshairs of Russian armed forces, including the possibility of nuclear and preventive strikes, as reported by Reuters.

Finland joined NATO in April 2023, while Sweden followed in March 2024, extending the alliance’s border with Russia by more than 1300 km.

At the same time, Russia has started building new military infrastructure along its border with Finland and has formed the “Leningrad Military District.”

According to Finnish authorities, Russia has initiated hybrid attacks, including sending migrants toward the border to destabilize Finland and the European Union.
