Bosniak MP Duda Balje made her return to the 9th constitutive session of the Assembly after a series of absences, maintaining her firm stance against supporting the Vetëvendosje (VV) candidate for Assembly Speaker.
“We hold the same position. It’s a matter of misunderstanding and mistreatment from the ruling party, both before and after the elections,” Balje declared, underlining that her party will not support VV’s nominee.
The current parliamentary deadlock continues, as VV has failed six times to secure the 61 votes needed to elect their candidate for Assembly Speaker.
Balje also confirmed that she had held meetings with AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj, but emphasized that no decision has yet been made about joining the AAK parliamentary group. “Yes, we’ve met with Ramush Haradinaj, but we haven’t decided yet whether to join their group,” she told reporters.
Her presence in the Assembly adds to the political maneuvering among minority parties, whose support remains pivotal in forming new institutions after the February 9 elections.
