Poland is preparing for one of the most uncertain rounds of presidential elections since the end of World War II, with the two leading candidates, Rafal Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, running neck and neck in the polls, reports Rks News.

According to a recent poll conducted by the IBRIS institute, liberal-conservative and pro-European candidate Trzaskowski is leading with 45.7%, while his national-conservative and eurosceptic rival Nawrocki closely follows with 44.9%. Meanwhile, 7.8% of respondents remain undecided, making the outcome highly unpredictable.

Another poll published by Deutsche Welle shows both candidates tied with 47% public support each. This has intensified efforts from both camps to win over undecided voters.

In the first round of elections held on May 18, Trzaskowski secured 31.36% of the vote, while Nawrocki received 29.54%. The narrow margin has created a heated political atmosphere between the center-left ruling coalition, led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and the conservative bloc headed by Jaroslaw Kaczynski of the Law and Justice party (PiS).

The result of the runoff election is expected to be decisive for Poland’s political direction in the coming years.
