A summer afternoon in Rome’s Villa Doria Pamphili park turned into a nightmare scene after the discovery of two deceased bodies: those of an infant and a woman. The incident has shaken local residents and prompted Italian investigators to uncover the truth behind this dark mystery.

Around 4:30 PM on Saturday, in an area of the park used for waste disposal, the body of a small girl, approximately six months old, was found. Two passersby initially thought it was a doll, but after approaching a man, they realized the shocking truth. The infant was naked, with signs of trauma on her right arm and leg.

Just four hours later, about 100 meters away, another macabre discovery was made: the body of a woman, hidden in a black bag. The woman was clothed but had no identification documents.

Possible Connection: Mother and Daughter?

Investigators suspect that the two victims might be related—possibly mother and daughter—and that both bodies were abandoned by the same person. “It’s an absurd story,” stated prosecutor Antonio Verdi, who arrived at the scene late in the evening. He added that DNA analysis will be conducted to determine the relationship between the victims and to ascertain the causes of death.

According to initial forensic assessments, the woman died before the infant, but the heat inside the bag where she was found may have accelerated the decomposition of her body.

Evidence, Suspicions, and Security Cameras

A family playing volleyball in the park discovered the woman’s body when their ball landed in the bushes. One of them, Giacinto Tito, said they noticed a foul smell and immediately alerted the police. A few meters further, a damaged fence overlooks an external road—a possible entry point for the person who abandoned the bodies.

Meanwhile, investigators have seized footage from security cameras around the park to identify suspicious movements in recent days. Hospitals are also being checked to see if either of the victims had sought medical treatment earlier.

Unknown Woman on the Bridge – A New Lead?

Around 6:40 PM, two women walking in the park saw a young woman in a confused state on a bridge in the center of the park. “She was holding her hands to her temples and shaking her head. She was wearing a dark dress and light brown hair,” one of the witnesses told La Repubblica newspaper. This witness could be key to understanding more about the victims’ identity or the person responsible.

Conclusion of a Nightmare Day

By 9:30 PM, the park was illuminated by powerful firefighter lights to assist investigators and the forensic doctor during inspections. Some passersby, confused by the police tape, asked if a film was being shot. But they learned the bitter truth only when they approached closer.

Villa Doria Pamphili, one of Rome’s most beloved parks, is now the scene of a complex investigation, with many open questions and only a few threads of hope to discover what truly happened.
