Following the 30th failed attempt to constitute Kosovo’s Assembly, PDK deputy Nait Hasani declared that he would no longer participate in future sessions. This decision sparked a reaction from Ismet Kryeziu, Executive Director of the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI).

In his public response, Kryeziu stated that Hasani’s action was not an escape from responsibility, but rather a protest against the dysfunction of the legislative body:

“Deputy Nait Hasani today showed that he is not abandoning responsibility. On the contrary, he is defending it with an act of protest – a boycott.”

Kryeziu emphasized that after more than 30 failed attempts to convene, the issue is no longer just technical but deeply political and moral.

He went on to assert that the entire Parliament should consider boycotting sessions under these circumstances:

“A Parliament without debate, without voting, without representation – and led by someone who opens and closes sessions according to personal or party whims – should be boycotted by all deputies.”

Kryeziu criticized the silence and inaction of other MPs, warning that continued participation in this stalled process only deepens the democratic crisis:

“Deputies must not remain silent. They must not become part of a blockade that is putting the state on pause and damaging democracy.”

This sharp critique reflects growing frustration among civil society and political actors regarding the prolonged inability of Kosovo’s Assembly to elect a Speaker and begin its work, following months of institutional deadlock.
