U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed in an interview with Fox News that he was aware of Israel’s military operation against Iran, known as “Rising Lion,” while emphasizing that the United States did not participate in any way, Rks News reports.
“It was Israel’s decision. We were not part of the operation, but we were informed in advance,” Trump stated. He reiterated his long-standing position that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons and stressed that diplomacy remains the best path to avoid escalation.
“Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb, and we hope to return to the negotiating table. We’ll see,” he said.
At one point during the interview, Trump confirmed that several high-ranking Iranian figures were killed in the Israeli strike. “There are some leadership figures who won’t be coming back,” he said, hinting at the strategic significance of the attack.
He also disclosed that his administration had informed “an important ally in the Middle East” prior to the strike, without naming the country, suggesting close regional coordination in the context of the ongoing crisis.
