The United States has begun to reposition military assets, including warships, toward the Middle East in response to heightened tensions following Israeli attacks on Iran and fears of potential retaliation from Tehran.

This news was reported by the Associated Press, citing two unidentified U.S. officials.

According to the same sources, the U.S. Navy has moved the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner towards the Eastern Mediterranean, while another destroyer has been ordered to move forward, to be on standby if intervention is requested by the White House.

“President Donald Trump is meeting with National Security Council leaders to discuss the situation,” the report notes.

Precautionary Measures and Regional Deployment

Facing an increased risk of escalation, U.S. forces in the region have been taking precautionary measures for days, including the voluntary departure of military personnel from bases in the Middle East, anticipating a potentially broad response from Iran.

Currently, approximately 30,000 U.S. troops are deployed in the region. This number had reached 43,000 last October due to the ongoing crisis between Israel and Iran.
