Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Iran possesses a legitimate right to defend itself against Israel’s bombing campaign. This statement comes a day after Erdogan described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the greatest threat to regional security. Erdogan’s latest remarks, reported by The Guardian on Wednesday, underscore his support for Tehran’s stance against Tel Aviv.

“It is a very natural, legitimate, and legal right for Iran to defend itself against the banditry and state terrorism of Israel,” Erdogan stated. He criticized Israel, asserting that it “possesses nuclear weapons and recognizes no international rules… it did not wait for negotiations to conclude but committed a terrorist act without awaiting the outcome.”

Erdogan further noted, “We are closely monitoring Israel’s terrorist attacks against Iran. All our institutions are on high alert regarding the potential effects of these attacks on Turkey.”
