French President Emmanuel Macron appears to be casting his gaze toward the future specifically the year 2032 with reported interest in running for a third presidential term, particularly if his party loses in 2027.
According to a report by Le Monde, recent remarks made by Macron during internal meetings suggest that the president has not ruled out a return to the Élysée Palace further down the road. During a gathering last Saturday with Young People on the Move — the youth wing of his party — Macron reportedly told attendees: “I will need you in two years, five years, or even ten years.”
Le Monde notes that such a party-centered meeting is highly unusual for a sitting president outside of an election campaign, further fueling speculation over Macron’s long-term political strategy.
Although the French constitution currently limits presidents to two consecutive terms, Macron could legally return after a break — a possibility that he and his inner circle seem to be quietly considering.
