Police in India have arrested a man who was running a “fake embassy” from a rented residential building near New Delhi. The suspect, Harshvardhan Jain (47), is accused of masterminding a fraudulent scheme where he posed as an ambassador to promising jobs abroad in exchange for money.

Sophisticated Deception Uncovered

According to senior police officer Sushil Ghule, Jain allegedly impersonated ambassadors from little-known states like “Seborga” and “Westarctica.” During a search of his residence, police seized several items, including vehicles with forged diplomatic license plates, fake seals from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and documents with logos and symbols from nearly 30 different countries.

Authorities also discovered manipulated photographs that showed Jain posing with world leaders, which he used to gain the trust of his victims.

Jain faces charges of money laundering through fictitious companies abroad, as well as forgery, identity fraud, and possession of falsified documents. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the number of victims who fell prey to this elaborate scam.
