July 29, 2025 – Moscow — The Kremlin has formally responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest ultimatum regarding the war in Ukraine, stating that it has “taken note” of the warning but affirming that Russia’s military campaign will continue.

In remarks to reporters on Monday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed President Trump’s recent statement made during his visit to the United Kingdom, in which he imposed a new 10-to-12-day deadline for Moscow to show progress toward ending the war in Ukraine — or face consequences.

“We have taken note of President Trump’s statement yesterday. The special military operation continues,” said Peskov, using the Kremlin’s official terminology for the war in Ukraine.

He added: “We remain committed to the peace process to resolve the conflict around Ukraine and to defend our interests during that resolution.”

President Trump, visibly frustrated with the prolonged conflict — now entering its fourth year — warned on July 14 that he would impose fresh sanctions on Russia and on countries purchasing Russian exports unless meaningful progress was made within 50 days. That deadline passed in early September.

However, during his London trip this week, Trump said he is no longer willing to wait, stating: “There’s no reason to delay… We’re simply not seeing any progress.” He also noted that he has held five phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin since returning to the White House in January but is “no longer particularly interested in talking.”

Asked about Trump’s apparent disengagement, Peskov declined to comment further.

The situation underscores rising tensions between Washington and Moscow, as Trump increases pressure on the Kremlin while simultaneously signaling a shift in diplomatic tone.
