One week ahead of the October 12 local elections campaign, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, together with Podujevë Mayor Shpejtim Bulliqi, laid the foundation stone of the Central Kitchen in Podujevë, reports Reporteri.net.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (ZKM), the new kitchen will serve 10,000 children, covering institutions from nurseries and preschools to grades I-IX.
The total investment is €700,000, and the facility will span 1,150 square meters, including a restaurant hall, staff and administrative areas, and support rooms.
“This is good news for the well-being of children and demonstrates the municipality’s and government’s commitment to children’s rights and needs, as student learning depends heavily on their overall well-being,” said Prime Minister Kurti during the foundation ceremony.
Mayor Bulliqi highlighted the importance of the project for Podujevë residents:
“With this kitchen, children will have access to warm meals, laying the groundwork for full-day learning in the municipality. Podujevë previously had only one public nursery, and by the end of my mandate, there will be nine. I thank Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of Kosovo for their continued support for our municipality and its citizens,” Bulliqi stated.
The announcement also notes that two kindergartens will be inaugurated today in Kërpimeh and Orllan, marking further improvements in local education and childcare infrastructure.
