Former Constitutional Court judge Kadri Kryeziu has emphasized that today’s decision to impose an interim measure against the Assembly of Kosovo carries a negative impact.
In the “Edicioni Special” program on Klan Kosova, he stated that the damage resulting from this latest Constitutional Court ruling for the country will be irreparable.
“I have treated these matters in a very professional and specialized manner. I can say that the interim measure, which was imposed today by the Constitutional Court, produces irreparable effects on the institutions and society of Kosovo,” Kryeziu said.
“In this context, I consider that the judges did not take into account the greater national and state interest, and they rushed to issue an interim measure whose effects are irreversible, not only for this legislature but also for future legislatures of the Kosovo Parliament,” he added.
Kryeziu explained what he sees as the most irreversible effect:
“A representative of the Serbian minority could determine when the parliament is constituted and when it is not. This is referred to, in diplomatic and political terms, as a ‘veto,’ which implies that a minority, through an administrative instruction, can always boycott or refuse to participate in parliament. Based on this, the Kosovo Assembly cannot be constituted without the consent of a Serbian minority representative.”
