President Vjosa Osmani has reacted after the United States decided to suspend the Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Osmani emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is built on the foundations of an unbreakable friendship with the United States of America. She described this relationship as not only diplomatic, but an existential part of Kosovo’s state and national identity.
“Therefore, the President expresses regret and deep concern regarding the suspension of the Strategic Dialogue, an important mechanism of cooperation between Kosovo and the U.S.,” the statement read.
Osmani recalled that the Strategic Dialogue was initiated by the Presidency in 2021 and was formally finalized in January 2025, highlighting it as a valuable instrument of strategic partnership with the U.S. She also noted that this mechanism was confirmed after extensive work between her team and the U.S. Department of State.
The President further underlined that Kosovo’s alliance with the U.S. is a strategic matter that requires political unity and commitment from all actors in the country. She reminded citizens that Kosovo’s freedom became a reality thanks to the decisive help of the United States, stressing that without this historic friendship, the country would not be where it is today.
Finally, Osmani pledged to work tirelessly with the United States to resume the Strategic Dialogue as soon as possible, reaffirming that this partnership is not only a guarantee for Kosovo’s present but also the most reliable compass for its future.
