The Kosovo Police have carried out a major operation targeting the trafficking and unauthorized possession of weapons, resulting in the arrest of five suspects in the municipalities of Shtime, Lipjan, and Drenas.
According to the police statement, the operation was led by the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes in cooperation with the competent prosecution. Searches were conducted at five different locations, leading to the discovery and seizure of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and electronic devices.
Items seized include:
- 1 AK-47 rifle
- 1 long-range rifle with scope
- 1 hunting rifle
- 1 handgun
- 116 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
- 8 gas cartridges
- 2 air rifles
- 5 mobile phones
The suspects, all male Kosovar citizens, are under investigation for alleged involvement in unauthorized import, export, supply, transport, production, mediation, or sale of firearms or explosives (Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo), as well as unauthorized ownership, control, or possession of weapons (Article 366 of the CCK).
After being interviewed, all five suspects were ordered into 48-hour detention by the competent prosecutor.
This operation marks another step in Kosovo’s ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and illegal arms trafficking.
