The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, met today with the French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guérot, to discuss the latest political and institutional developments.

During the meeting, Basha underlined the need to proceed with the establishment of the Assembly’s dependent institutions to ensure the full functionality of democratic institutions, stressing that the Assembly carries a responsibility toward citizens.

“These steps will positively impact the strengthening of democracy and the protection of human rights and freedoms in Kosovo. I also expressed the Assembly’s full commitment to protecting the rights of all communities and emphasized the importance of building an inclusive society based on respect, equality, peace, and sustainable development,” Basha stated.

Kosovo’s Path to the Council of Europe

Speaker Basha reiterated the importance of France’s support for Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe and the lifting of punitive measures by the European Union. He emphasized that such progress would mark a key step in Kosovo’s European integration journey.

Cultural, Educational, and Economic Cooperation

Basha and Ambassador Guérot also agreed on the expansion of student exchange programs and the promotion of Francophone cultural activities, strengthening ties between the peoples of Kosovo and France.

Another key focus of the discussions was the intensification of cooperation to attract French investments in Kosovo, aimed at creating new jobs and further showcasing the potential of Kosovo’s youth, described by Basha as professional, innovative, and technology-driven.
