The Kosovo-Albania free movement agreement at the Vërmica-Morinë border crossing has been temporarily suspended starting Wednesday, October 1.

According to authorities, the suspension will remain in place until the beginning of November. During this period, border officials in both countries will process traveler and vehicle data through an accelerated procedure to avoid long queues caused by the high volume of cross-border movement.

Exceptions During Weekends and Holidays

Despite the suspension, citizens traveling with vehicles registered in Kosovo or Albania will still be allowed to cross without border checks during weekends and official holidays, A2 CNN reported.

Seasonal Arrangement

The free movement deal, introduced to ease traffic and boost travel convenience, has shown positive results during the busy summer season. The control-free period typically runs from May 1 to September 30.

In total, citizens benefit from nine months of simplified border movement per year, while the remaining three months require standard checks.
