The NATO-led mission in Kosovo, KFOR, officially welcomed its new commander today during a ceremony held at Film City Camp in Prishtina.
At the formal handover, Italian Army Major General Enrico Barduani transferred command to Turkish Army Major General Ozkan Ulutash, marking a new chapter in the mission’s leadership.
This appointment represents a return for Ulutash, who previously commanded KFOR until October 11, 2024, when he handed over the role to Barduani. With his reinstatement, Ulutash resumes responsibility for overseeing NATO’s security operations in Kosovo.
The ceremony highlighted the continuity of NATO’s commitment to security and stability in the region, as well as its ongoing cooperation with local institutions and international partners.
KFOR remains tasked with implementing its mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), ensuring a safe environment and freedom of movement for all communities living in Kosovo.
